NEW HONORARY CONSUL GENERAL IN BRISBANE SWORN INTO OFFICE

 Canberra, 23 December 2015 - Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Jim Tito B. San Agustin administered the oath of office today to Mrs. Margaret Jane Grummitt as Philippine Honorary Consul General in Brisbane, Queensland.

My History

Mrs. Grummitt originally hails from New Zealand. Now an Australian citizen, she is now on her last term as a Divisional Councillor for the City of the Gold Coast. She was elected Councillor three times and has held that position for over 11 years.

A graduate of the Queensland Police Academy, she worked with the Queensland Police Service for 30 years and retired from the police force at the rank of Senior Sergeant a decade ago. She has held the position of Prosecutor at the Southport Court House in the very challenging role of Domestic Violence Court Prosecutor.

Other duties included Police Community Liaison Officer and Coordinator of the Schoolies Celebrations whilst stationed at the Police Headquarters in charge of the Police Youth Clubs in South Eastern Queensland.

My Service

Over the last decade my husband and I have enjoyed attending countless community events, with the wonderful singing, dancing, and of course, the feasting... it is now a great honour to have been sworn in on my assumption in to office as the Philippines Honorary Consul General in Brisbane, Queensland.

My role as the Philippine Hon. Consul General is to assist the local Philippine Communities and to foster trade and investment between Queensland and the Philippines.

During my term I hope to:
  • Represent the interest of the Philippines throughout Queensland;
  • Provide assistance and support to the Philippine citizens living and working in Queensland;
  • To promote the general interests of the Philippines in Queensland, in particular commercial and cultural, and seek opportunities to develop those interests; and
  • To carry out the instructions and wishes of the Ambassador.
