Acknowledgements (Red Ribbon)
A legal document (eg, power of attorney or a contract) executed in Australia by an individual or corporate entity requires ACKNOWLEDGMENT or AUTHENTICATION (see below) by the Philippine Embassy or a Consulate so that it will have legal force and effect in the Philippines.
The Consulate acknowledges a legal document that is signed by an individual in the presence of the consular official, with the individual declaring it to be his/her true and voluntary act and deed.
Walk-ins will no longer be available for these services. ** APPOINTMENT REQUIRED **
Brisbane Acknowledgement Signings are performed every Wednesday from 11am to 4pm by Appointment Only. To make an appointment please submit your details in the forms below.
Fees: AU$45 per document (Payable to the Philippine Consulate)
Processing Time: Acknowledgements are processed while you wait, depending on the length of the document this can take around 10-15 minutes
What to Bring: We require your forms to be completed before arrival, Minus the Signature. You will be required to sign in front of the Consul General and witnesses. Please also bring one form of Photo Identification Signature clearly visible (passport or licence are sufficient as long as Signature is visible).

Authentications
Authentication is completed on documents whose affiant cannot sign the document in the presence of a Consular Officer (an Acknowledgement, above).
Authentication is also done on documents that are issued by a Government Agency, Corporate Office, Bank, or Institution.
Process for Authentication of Private Documents
Private Documents include SPA (Special Power of Attorney), Affidavits, Contracts, Deeds etc.
- Have the documents notarised by an Official Notary Public before lodging to Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), 150 Charlotte Street, Brisbane in person or by mail for Authentication.

Process for Authentication of Public Documents (Government, Commercial, Education)
Public Documents include Birth/Death Certificates, Marriage Certificates, School Records etc.
- These can be lodged directly either in person or by mail to Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), 150 Charlotte Street, Brisbane for Authentication.
